Switch from Square Appointments
How the concepts map, what to export, and what to expect on the fee side.
Square Appointments is a strong tool for shops already deep in the Square ecosystem. Shops that leave Square for Booked usually cite two reasons: they want the appointment page decoupled from the till, and they want a flat, predictable price without a percentage on every service.

Export from Square
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard.
- Customers → Directory → Import/Export → Export to get a CSV of your customer list.
- Items & orders → Services → Export for your service menu.
- Staff → Team → Export for your team list.
Import into Booked
Go to Dashboard → Import data and pick what each file holds. Square's default column headers are recognised without renaming anything: service_name, duration, fixed_or_variable_price on the services export, First Name / Last Name / Email Address on the team export.
Booked ships a working Square sample CSV for each type on that screen, so you can compare your export against one that is known to import cleanly before you commit.
Two Square quirks worth knowing
Variable-price services export with an empty price. Square allows a service priced "from" rather than at a figure; those rows arrive with nothing in the price column. Set a price in Booked after importing, or the service shows as free.
Names arrive split. Square exports first and last name in separate columns; Booked stores one display name. The importer joins them.
What does not come across
The till, your item library, gift card balances held in Square, and card details on file. Cards cannot transfer between processors — customers who had a card saved with you in Square will be asked for it again the first time they pay through Booked.
