A client who finds you on Maps should be able to book from Maps. Google offers two routes, and each has rules that decide whether the button shows up.
A client who finds you on Maps should be able to book from Maps.
Google gives you two routes to a booking button on your Business Profile. They work differently, and the rules decide whether the button appears at all.
Route one: a Reserve with Google provider
Reserve with Google is Google's program for booking providers. In your Business Profile, open Bookings, choose Get started, and pick a provider from the list available in your country. Google says the provider shows up on your profile within a week.
Two things to know before you sign up. Google warns that your provider might charge you for bookings made through Google, so ask before you choose. And the list is Google's: only providers Google has accepted appear in it.
Route two: your own booking link
If your booking tool is not on that list, or you would rather keep one booking page for everyone, add your own link. On Google Search, open Booking. On Google Maps, choose Edit profile, then the booking option. Select Add link, paste the URL, and save.
Google's rules for that link are specific:
- Your profile must be verified before you can add one.
- It must go to a page for your business. A general landing page does not count. With more than one location, each profile links to that location's own page.
- The client must be able to finish booking there. Social media pages, messaging links, app store links and link shorteners are not allowed.
- Google's checker has to reach the page. Google visits the link up to once a day and may remove one that does not load or returns an error.
- One link per domain. If a provider has already put a link from the same domain on your profile, yours is refused as a duplicate.
With more than one booking link, set one as Business preferred so it sits at the top.
On Booked, the link is your page
Your Booked page lives at booked.co/your-shop. With more than one location, each one has its own booking page. Paste each location's own page into that location's Google profile.
Choose the address before you paste it anywhere. A Booked shop can change its URL once, ever, and the old address is not forwarded. Rename later and the Google link stops working the moment you save, along with every card and QR code.
Clear out old providers
Google can add booking links from third-party providers to your profile automatically. Check the Booking section for any you do not use, and use Remove provider. Google says providers must act on a removal request within five days.
A button from a provider you no longer use sends clients to a calendar you do not check.
Check it from a phone
Open Google Maps on your phone, search for your shop by name, and tap the booking option. You should land on your own page, at the right location, with times showing. Then finish a booking and cancel it from the confirmation link.
If the times are empty, the problem is on your side of the link. The booking-page leaks post has the fifteen-minute audit, and the Google profile post covers hours, services and photos. Your hours on Google should match your page; the local SEO post explains why that matters.
Before you paste the link, read the rules for your shop URL.
This week
| Minutes | Move |
|---|---|
| 0 to 5 | Confirm your Business Profile is verified |
| 5 to 10 | Open Booking and remove any provider you no longer use |
| 10 to 15 | Add your booking page link, one per location, and set it as Business preferred |
