Why a deposit is required

Some services ask for a small deposit up front. Here is why and how it works.

Deposits are how shops protect long or high-demand services from no-shows. If the shop has enabled deposits for the service you chose, you will see the amount before you confirm.

Two deposit modes

ModeWhat you pay nowWhat you pay in the chair
Percentage depositA share of the service price (for example 25%)The remainder
Full prepaymentThe whole service priceNothing further

The exact amount and the refund rule are shown on the payment screen. Cards are processed by Stripe; Booked never sees or stores your full card number.

Deposits are not a Booked fee. They belong to the shop and go straight to the shop's payout account.
