Card processing fees
3.75% + 45¢ all-in when a customer pays a deposit or prepays. One rate, nothing else deducted.
Booked Card Payments is an optional Pro add-on. When enabled, the shop can require a deposit or full prepayment at booking, charged through Stripe Connect.
The one number to remember
3.75% of the charged amount plus 45¢ per successful charge, all-in. That rate includes card-network interchange, Stripe processing, Connect platform costs, and Booked's margin. There is no monthly platform fee and no premium-card surcharge. A $5.00 minimum charge applies.
On a $40 deposit that is $1.95. On a $120 prepayment, $4.95. The rate is the same whichever card the customer uses, which is the part that differs from most processors — an Amex or a rewards card costs you exactly what a basic debit card costs you.
What it is charged on
The amount actually taken at booking, not the price of the service. A 25% deposit on a $200 service is a $50 charge, so the fee is on $50.
Tips
No fee. A tip is passed through in full.
Payouts
- Rolling payout schedule, currently 2 business days after each charge.
- Direct to the bank account you connect during Stripe onboarding.
- Refunds return the full amount to the customer, and the fee on the refunded charge is returned to you.
Chargebacks
If a customer disputes a charge, the disputed amount and a $15 network dispute fee (set by the card networks, not by Booked) come back out of your payout balance. Stripe debits them from Booked first, because the charge is created on our account, and we recover them from yours — the effect on you is the same, and if the dispute is later resolved in your favour the money is returned. Refunds you initiate yourself do not trigger a dispute fee.
If you do not turn it on
Nothing is deducted from anything, because no money moves through Booked at all. Customers book and pay you in person however they already do.
