Run a class or group session
Let several customers book the same start time by giving a service more than one seat.
Most services seat one person: once someone books 10:00, that slot is gone. A
class works differently — you want eight people in the same room at the same
time, all booking 10:00.
Set that up with Seats per session on the service.
Set it up
- Go to Services and edit the service (or create a new one).
- Set Seats per session to the number of people one sitting holds.
- Save.
That is the whole setup. Leave it at 1 and the service behaves exactly as it
always has.
What customers see
The slot stays open until every seat is taken. Eight people can each pick 10:00
and each get their own booking, their own confirmation, and their own
reference — they are separate bookings that happen to share a time.
When the last seat goes, the slot stops being offered. Anyone who was already
on the page when it filled is told the session is fully booked and asked to
pick another time, rather than being allowed to book a ninth place.
What it does not do
- It does not let the staff member do two different things at once. Seats
only apply within one sitting of one service. A class at 10:00 still blocks a
haircut at 10:00 for the same staff member, however many seats are free.
- It does not overlap two sittings. A 10:00 class and a 10:30 class for the
same staff member still conflict, because they overlap in time.
- It is per staff member. Two instructors each running a class of eight at
10:00 is sixteen places, because each staff member has their own seats.
Changing the number later
Raising the seat count opens more places on sittings that are not yet full.
Lowering it does not cancel anyone. Bookings already taken keep their places —
if you drop a class from eight seats to four while six people are booked, all
six keep their spots and no new bookings are accepted until the sitting is back
under four. Nobody is ever bumped by a settings change.
Deposits and payment
Group services work with deposits and card payments exactly like any other
service. Each seat is charged separately, because each seat is its own booking.
