Change the service or staff after booking
The link on your confirmation can move the appointment to another time with the same service and the same person. It cannot swap a haircut for a color, or one barber for another. Those are a cancellation and a new booking. Any deposit is settled by the shop's cancellation rule at the moment you cancel.
The reschedule flow only changes the time. For a different service or barber, cancel and rebook.
The reschedule link on your confirmation moves your appointment to a new time with the same service and the same staff member. To change the service or the staff member:
- Open your confirmation link and cancel the existing booking.
- Book again from the shop's page with the service and staff you want.
Do it in that order. Cancelling first releases the slot, and if the new booking is at the same time, that slot has to be free before you can take it again.
Why it works this way
Changing the service changes how long the appointment runs, and changing the staff member changes whose diary it sits in. Either one is a different appointment in a different place in the calendar, not an edit to the existing one — so Booked asks you to book the one you want rather than quietly trying to fit the old booking somewhere it may not go.
If you paid a deposit
Cancelling before the shop's refund cutoff returns the deposit to your card, and the new booking will ask for a fresh one. That is two card transactions for one appointment, and the refund usually takes a few working days to land even though the new charge is immediate.
Inside the cutoff the shop keeps the deposit, so cancelling and rebooking would mean paying twice. Ask the shop first. Many will move a deposit across a rebook, and some will simply make the change from their own calendar, which they can do at any time without touching the money at all.
The quicker route
If you already know what you want, phone the shop. Staff can change the service or move you to a colleague in one step from their calendar, with no cancel, no rebook, and no second payment. The two-step route above is for when the shop is shut and you would rather not wait.
