Hold a card for no-shows
Optional and off by default. On Pro, save a client's card at booking and charge a set fee if the booking is marked No-show.
A no-show card is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, clients save a card when they book, and a set fee is charged to that card if the booking is marked No-show. Nothing is charged at booking.
What you need
- The Pro plan.
- Verified card payouts. See Take card payments and get paid.
Turn it on
- Open Dashboard → Profile and find the No-show card card.
- Choose who is asked for a card:
- Every booking
- New clients only
- Past no-shows only
- Set the fee, from $5 to $1,000.
- Save.
Only the shop owner can change this setting. To turn it off, choose Off.
Who counts as a new client
A client is new if no earlier booking at your shop has the same email address or phone number. Any earlier booking at the same shop counts, including one that was canceled.
Past no-shows only asks for a card when an earlier booking with the same email address or phone number was marked No-show.
When deposits or full prepayment are on
No card is held. The deposit or prepayment is already taken at booking, so the no-show card setting does not apply.
What the client sees
At the end of booking, the client enters a card and sees the fee amount. The card is saved, not charged.
When a client does not come
Mark the booking No-show in the calendar. The fee is charged to the saved card at that moment. Owners, managers and staff can all mark a booking No-show, so any of them can trigger the charge.
If the card is declined, or the bank asks the client to approve the charge, the fee is not collected and the calendar shows a message saying so.
The amount charged is the fee shown to the client when they booked, even if you change the fee later. Each booking is charged once at most.
Fees
Booked's card fee is 3.75% + 45¢ on the amount charged, the same as deposits. On a $25 no-show fee, that is $1.39. See Card processing fees.
