Add time off for one staff member
Same steps as any time-off block, but scoped to a single staff row.
If one person is off but the rest of the shop is open, give them a time-off block rather than editing the shop's hours.
Steps
- Open Dashboard → Hours and scroll to Time off.
- Under Who, pick the staff member. (Leaving it on Whole shop (closure) would close everyone, which is not what you want here.)
- Set From and To — anything from an hour to two weeks.
- Add a reason: "Vacation", "Training", "Wedding".
- Save.
Only that person stops taking bookings for that window. Everyone else carries on as normal.
What happens to bookings they already have
Nothing automatic. Appointments already in the blocked window stay on the calendar. Reschedule or cancel them yourself from Dashboard → Calendar, and let the client know — the block only prevents new bookings.
Someone off every week
If a stylist never works Mondays, do not add a block every week. Their weekly schedule is further down the same Hours page: leave Monday empty and they are simply never bookable then.
What it does not touch
A time-off block stops new bookings and nothing else. It does not notify anybody, it does not move existing appointments, and it does not appear on your public page as an explanation — the times simply are not offered.
If the person is off for a week, look at their diary before you save the block, not after.
Blocks versus closures
A block scoped to one person leaves the shop open. A whole shop closure shuts everybody, which is what you want for a public holiday — see Close for a holiday. Picking the wrong one is the common mistake, and the symptom is a shop that looks fully booked for a day nobody asked for.
